Deepen your understanding of metaphysics and connect with your spiritual community through the many classes offered at Seattle Unity. Studying spiritual principles facilitates a connection with others on a soul level and encourages you to practice truth principles in your life. The courses are an excellent way to receive support on your spiritual path and make friends who are of like mind.
Spiritual Education and Enrichment classes (S.E.E.) are periodically offered at Seattle Unity. Taught by trained Unity teachers, they often offer credits from Unity Village and some meet membership requirements. Distance Learning Opportunities are offered as well through the Unity Village web site.
Instructors at Seattle Unity include Rev. Rich Carlini, Rev. Christina Lee, Rev. Robbie Fahnestock and Licensed Unity Teachers Barbara Thorp and Johnnie Woods, all under the overall direction of Senior Minister Rev. Karen Lindvig .
Recently, Rev. Rich accepted the position of Adult Education Coordinator. He will be coordinating a scintillating series of classes, all working to Celebrate, Inspire, and Deepen your individual and our collective spiritual journeys. You’ll enjoy getting to know this charming man!
During a period of spiritual loss, Reverend Rich Carlini found the Unity Movement in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. He was guided to the Unity Church by a neighbor who said she was certain he would feel at home there. The first words he heard during the service were, “God is all good and everywhere present,” and he did find that he felt right at home.
At Unity church of North Idaho (UCNI) Rich served as treasurer on the Board of Directors during a capital campaign which resulted in the new church building opening in 1997. While at UCNI he facilitated several prosperity classes and then began attending the Personal Development Program at Unity Village.
Reverend Rich was ordained as a Unity Minister in 2004 after graduating from Unity School of Religious Studies (USRS) in Kansas City, MO. While at USRS he pioneered and implemented the Wednesday evening praise and worship service for Unity Village Chapel, assisted in the development and implementation of hospice and hospital practicum’s for Ministerial Education Program Candidates and served on the steering committee for “Jesus Seminar on the Road Kansas City.” He also served as a chaplain at Unity Temple on the Plaza
He served as Associate Pastoral Care Minister at Unity of Phoenix with Reverend Lei Lanni Burt and as Founding Senior Minister of Central Phoenix Unity Church. With his vision of Divinity ~ Diversity ~ Community, Rich and a group of Spirit-minded individuals began the ministry in an urban city storefront on Camelback Road in April 2005 and welcomed the community for the church’s first service on July 3rd.
Reverend Rich is a noted speaker, teacher and pastor in the North/Southwest and uses both humor and truth to create a transforming experience in his classes. He has also been in the healthcare field for over 35 years, served on non-profit boards and owned a direct mail company in San Francisco, CA.
He believes that when we stop looking at each other and seeing different colors of skin, genders, sexual orientations, denominations, and ethnic backgrounds and begin seeing that spark of divinity – that Christ presence – that each of us share – then peace and love will flow throughout our planet.

“The practice of Unity Principles has transformed my life – freed me to be my true self.” – Barbara Thorp
Barbara continues on the path to deepen her connection to the Goddess within. She is passionate about teaching Truth principles – practical Christianity. It is her great joy to see others awaken to the Divine within them, to see their lives transformed, to see people healed and whole.
Barbara knew she found her spiritual home in 1981 when she attended Seattle Unity Church for the first time. Since coming to Unity she learned positive prayer and Unity principles that changed her consciousness.
Prayer and meditation are now part of Barbara’s daily life. Becoming a Prayer Team member in 1997 and a Chaplain in 2001 increased her practice of prayer.
She became a Licensed Unity Teacher in 2007 because she longed to know more about Unity Principles, health and wholeness as taught and demonstrated by Myrtle and Charles Fillmore. She desires to live these Truths.
Barbara’s profession as a Registered Nurse provides wonderful opportunities to witness healing in many forms and a chance to teach patients. Her roles as wife, mother, and nurse provide avenues to practice Truths – Unity Principles used in daily life. She takes joy on the journey.
