Greetings! We’re so glad you are interested in Seattle Unity! Being deeply committed to our individual spiritual growth and our spiritual growth in community, we’ve found that practice in community adds depth and breadth to our connections with God and the Divine. We look forward to connecting with you and enjoying what you bring to our communal spiritual experience.
Seattle Unity, located in the heart of Seattle, is a welcoming spiritual community where we honor the truth in all genuine spiritual paths. Living in our Western culture, we do base much of our teaching on the Christian bible, which we interpret metaphysically. We regularly add to this “traditional” religion with wisdom from Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and other world faiths and spiritual leaders. Seattle Unity’s teachings are not just a set of beliefs: through regular practice, they produce significant positive changes in one’s life and in the world. These Spiritual principles and teachings are further explored through the many classes and programs offered throughout the week. People from all walks of life and all religious traditions are invited to join us, and as a congregation, we honor each person and the spiritual path which one follows. Welcome to Seattle Unity.
Two services, each lasting a bit over an hour, are offered at 9 and 11 am. Our worship services combine many different elements to feed one’s soul. We have outstanding, joy-filled music which opens the heart; a time of stillness to quiet the mind and body; and dynamic messages which both uplift and yet challenge us to make our lives, and thus our world, better. Both services have the same message; the vibrant 11 am service is offered at the same time as our Sunday school, and features a blessing of and participation by our children at the end of this service. On our Home Page, you can learn who is offering the Sunday lesson and who is leading the Sunday music.
There’s no dress code at Seattle Unity Church. Please wear clothing you feel comfortable in. On any Sunday, you may see everything from jeans to kilts to turbans to business suits. And some pretty spectacular hats, on occasion, too!
Our thriving Youth & Family Ministry warmly welcomes all youth. During the 9 am service, loving daycare is provided for all ages. During the 11 am service, a full program of classes for all ages is offered.
We are just 2 blocks from Seattle Center, on the North side of Denny Park. We are located in walking distance of a number of bus routes, including 5, 8, 23, 26, 28, 56 & 358. Please see our “Directions” page for driving directions. There is generally abundant parking on the street and in our parking lot, located immediately North of the church building.
On your first visit, we have a number of places and people to welcome you and help you feel comfortable. In the Narthex, as you walk in, there are Welcome Ambassadors at a table right there. They will answer questions and guide you to where you want to be. Our Library hosts snacks and conversation after each service, where you can informally meet others. In our Fellowship Hall, we hold a brunch following both services. There is a table there dedicated especially to new visitors, hosted by more of our Welcome Ambassadors.
Our Bookstore is also a warm and friendly place. Browse, buy, or just stop by and enjoy the people, both those staffing the bookstore and fellow browsers. During the service we will invite you to stand so we can welcome you. We will give you a gift and welcome packet so that you can share your information with us and we can connect with you again.
After that initial “first time”, we have found two great ways to connect and meet other members of the community are through volunteering and at our ongoing groups. Much of our communion with each other happens informally, during these non-Sunday times and parties.
